Oregon is a rain forest, after all.  Moss will coat any surface, and most verdantly wherever there isn't much sun.

In the forest the moss is brilliant, soft, the perfect fairy forest carpet. The only time the green velvet loses any of its beauty is when it is coating some sign of human squalor.  Few things are as depressing as a moss-coated trailer home. When driving sometimes past mossy clearings with mildewed shacks and algae-covered broken cars in the driveway, I always wonder if the forest will close over and reclaim its hold on the surroundings before anyone will stop it
