The Columbia's Daughter
Today we trekked out to the Sandy River, dogs, soda and all. The Sandy is a 50 mile tributary of the Columbia, and quite the put-in spot for local folk and their watercrafts. Luckily we found the beaches nearly empty, and proceeded to enjoy ourselves in nature's bounty! There is nothing like a summer day in the pacific northwest. All blues, greens and yellows. Then there are the trains, crossing aged rusty bridges and blowing their horns for the cows and the swimmers. The Sandy runs near the Portland airport, so there are also the planes to see, huge passenger jets and little business planes. A typical, hot windy summer day in the Columbia Gorge. A bit of heaven on earth.
